Welcome To The SamsEats Substack
Find out more about myself and what this Substack will entail below...
Welcome!
For those of you who are new, let me tell you a bit about myself, my page and what you can expect from my Substack…
About Me
I’m Sam, a self-taught home cook based in the UK, and as you’ll quickly find out, I absolutely LOVE all things food.
5 years ago I set up a cooking page called @samseats to help secure a job in a food and drink startup or a renown kitchen to start a career as a chef. The beauty of social media meant that this journey took a different turn.. my page quickly became a place in which I have been able to showcase all sorts of food from around the world, to over 10 million of you across the different platforms, with the sole aim of inspiring people to get stuck into the kitchen, enjoy the process and ignite a love for all things food. Whether thats cooking, eating out, or exploring new countries and cuisines, I hope that there’s always a part of my content that brings some education, entertainment and comfort to all.
So, after many requests over the past few years, I thought it was about time to welcome you into my world of food. I now want to give you all a deeper insight into my recipes, the behind the scenes of my cooking and insights into my food based travels and adventures…
What sort of posts can you expect?
New Recipes Every Week: The most requested thing to date are my recipes, and more specifically, the full breakdowns of them. Everything will be included, from my more complex ASMR, “Lets Do Some Cooking” from scratch recipes, to my easier comfort food recipes from series like Date Night Dishes. Instagram, TikTok and Youtube all have their place to showcase these videos, I have never had the opportunity to delve deeper into them and write out the recipes properly for everyone to enjoy. This is where my posts on Substack come into play…
The more complex “Let’s Do Some Cooking” dishes will include context and understanding of the foods that I make (e.g. essential ingredients explained and why I choose them), kitchen tips and tricks intertwined throughout to better yourself as a home cook, easy to understand step-by-step methods, and workarounds. We’re all human therefore it’s not always the case that things go to plan. Whether you are unable to access all of the ingredients, you don’t enough time to cook the whole recipe, or maybe you have made more food than you require and as a result need recipe inspiration to use up the leftovers, I’ll try my best to provide workarounds to all of these in the more complex recipes. Accessible alternatives for ingredients, insights into quicker methods for particular aspects of the recipes (whilst of course making sure they pack the same flavour punch!) and new ideas to use up leftovers are all just a few of the things that will be included
Interspersed between these more complex recipes will be the easier to understand, feel-good, comfort food recipes. These are usually those which are more simple to make, and they usually (but not exclusively) will sit as part of a series like Date Night Dishes or Christmas Sides. They won’t include as much of the context and understanding for particular ingredients, and niche workarounds for the from scratch aspects, but instead, they will be more frequently posted, with unique twists and recipes that will not disappoint when it comes to flavour.
Behind The Scenes: Posts which showcase the behind the scenes of my recipes and videos to come. A little insight into the SamsEats kitchen.
Travel: A big part of my love for food stems from travelling. Whether I am exploring Greek islands, eating from taco stands in Mexico City or discovering hidden gems in Tokyo, I will be writing about all of my adventures from around the world. This will include everything from the best places to eat and drink (of all price points so there is something for everyone!) must-try foods and personal stories and experiences.
